Are the stock clear tails state legal?

Im talking aobut the stock style clears that arent being made anymore. Cuz i have heard that they are illegal in some states, yet I have seen two brand new cars that have this same style tail light. The Scion xB, that real boxy "suv" thing, and the Chevy Equinox.
Anybody know???

im pretty sure inside of the stock clears on thoes two vehicles...along with that lexus rs suv, that the housing surrounding the bulb is actually ready, if you look at them real close i know on scions and the lexus suvs they are...not sure about the equinox, but if u use some bright red L.E.D.s instead of just red bulbs im sure u wont have a problem...i only had a problem with mine once even with just red bulbs and that was after i got pulled over for something else and before my brother broke them

you have to have a red reflector in most states on the rear of the vehicle
