playing around today before i took my drop spindles off.i think i can run the 14's with a wheel spacer and little longer studs. it still tucks inside the fenders. has anyone one done this? i think im gonna try it.
ok since no one would reply..... j/k ok. i put a spacer on and the mazda stock wheels will fit with about 1/4 inch of lug to grab on. so... im getting longer studs(if i can find them) and a 5/8 inch spacer to be on the safe side.
Why are you running a spindle? Mazda will lay with stock 14 wheels and tires without them.
how are u running drop spindles on a 14" wheel the tierod end will rub the inside of the wheel!!!! you can barely get away with a 16" wheel and a couple washers. And like balcar said u can lay out up to a 17" wheel with no spindle and some simple mods...
i havent driven it on the road yet but i have a 1/2 spacer with the fourteen" wheel and it sets the wheels out far enough to clear the spindles. i just set them like that to move it out of the shed. i will either get bigger rims or switching back to the stock spindles before i take it out.
What kind of ride do you get without using spindles or any other "conventional" parts? I assume that your flipping the BJ, reindexing the torsions, etc.
I just put my spindles in and flipped the ball joints. It gave me 3 inches and I still have good travel, so why not run them? I don't see any downside except for the fact you have to run 16+.
cause i ave drop spindles. not regular spindles. the steering arm hangs down and causes clearence issues.
1. spindles are expensive. (not that expensive, but they will be once you finally get them cause u have to deal with aim)
2. They push the wheel out a little, which gives many people clearence problems. (espeically if its bagged)
3. I've seen a 15" wheel fit, its just depends on the offset. Its just not worth the headache to spend money to have issues to have fitment issue.
I have a set on the shelf for when I find a crew cab, then it will be to clear the 20-22" wheels. Heck, ihave just about everything exept the cab right now to make it, someday i'll smuggle one back from mexico.
well i got these for 40 dollars so couldnt really turn that down.
