I GOT TO DOING SOME WORK ON MY TRUCK LAST WEEKEND TO GET READY TO MOUNT MY FUEL CELL UNDER THE BED BEHIND THE AXLE WHERE THE SPARE TIRE HOLDER IS. UPON DOING SO I FIND THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE SHOCK IS IN THE WAY....IF I MOUNT IT FOREWARD ANY MORE I WON'T HAVE ROOM FOR THE EXHAUST....BACKWARDS ANYMORE & I WON'T HAVE ROOM FOR THE HIDDEN HITCH MOUNT.
SO HERE'S WHAT I'VE COME UP WITH.... I'M GETTING SOME PIECES OF 1/4" PLATE CUT SO I CAN MAKE NEW MOUNTS. I AM TRYING TO KEEP THE SAME ANGLE AS THE FACTORY, SAME TRAVEL LENGTH, & MOUNT THEM TO THE ROUND FRAME X-MEMBER JUST IN FRONT OF THE AXLE. SO INSTEAD OF THEM BEING IN THE STOCK LOCATION POINTED FRONT TO REAR THEY WILL BE SIDE TO SIDE. THE MOUNT ON THE AXLE WILL BE CLOSE TO THE LEAF SPRING, MOUNT ON THE TOP TOWARD THE CENTER OF THE TRUCK ON THE ROUND X-MEMBER.

WHAT DO YA'LL THINK, WILL THIS WORK, OR DO I NEED TO GO ANOTHER ROUTE?

Trying to picture in my head ur setup. If I got it correctly,u may have some issues with fore and aft stability on acceleration and braking.bj

you could also put a bar across the frame and mount both shocks to that on an angle

Good idea. That would also function as a rear frame stiffener and help lateral stability.BJ

the are mounted like this from the factory

!
___________ the line being the axle & ! shocks
................!

when i get done they will be like this

__________ factory round tube x-member
.../..... \ shocks
____O_____ axle

if i run into traction problems i'll make an adjustable link & mount it to the center of the chunk on the top & to the round facroty x-member to keep the pinion angle right, sorta like the new mustangs have altho theirs is unadjustable.

If u r going to run that 190 hp engine with that setup I guarantee u r going to have traction issues.Of course u r going to have traction issues anyway--Lol.Why not a set of "shorty" traction bars under neath spring perches to avoid wheel hop.Plus they are adjustable.Lakewood makes them and I have them on my truck altho I dont really need them at present.BJ

TRAC BAR WOULD BE ANOTHER THING TO SNAG ON SOMETHING...HAD A BUDDY BACK IN THE DAY THAT SNAGGED A LEAF SPRING ON A MANHOLE COVER......IT WAS A B*T*H TO GET HIS TRUCK ON A ROLLBACK WRECKER WITH HIS LEAF BENT @ A 90 DEG. ANGLE. AN ADJUSTABLE LINK ON THE TOP OF THE AXLE LIKE THE MUSTANGS HAVE SHOULD DO THE TRICK TO KEEP THE PINION ANGLE RIGHT WHICH SHOULD LIMIT THE WHEEL HOP ISSUE...HOPEFULLY...

oh man did i got lost in the translation. haha
but those "pics" help me understand what your doing now. not poitive but it should def work as long as you fab it up right.
definately get some pics of your finished setup, that would be great to have in our tech section.

Yeah. I keep forgetting that youse guys wanta drag you arses around while I am still and will continue to be at stock height.Traction bars are not my best idea for a lowered truck.Lol.It may well work if the adj. link is stiff enough-how much torque and at what rpm does the 190hp generate it cause torque is the issue for u not hp.
