or even possibly rotten i have a pump and sending unit if you need one
i havent taken it to my mechanic yet i have only talked to him on the phone normally he can tell me what it is over the phone so he hasnt checked the TPS himself. i checked the timing and it was hitting the last mark to the right when you are looking at the engine so i advanced the timing to just before the middle mark and it helped alot but it still does it a lil so i guess im gonna adjust it a lil more tomorrow when i have some light. where exactly does it need to be set so i can get this right. i know more about chevy engines than i do mazdas
Drop a 4.3 and a 700R4 and call it done then. hehe.
if i do a swap im gonna go with a 302 but im trying to keep this a gas sipper
5% before top dead center or the first big mark to the LEFT of the TDC mark.BJ
bump .ur timing was about 7 degrees after TDC which was causing the backfiring.Truck was running way too lean.BJ
ok i will check it again in the morning i think i have it real close but im not sure.if this gets it most of the way gone then i still gotta do plug wires, cap and rotor, the plugs where changed right before i got it but since the timing was off so far i might just change them while im at it
good man.tune ups cure a lot of ills.BJ
well i got it timed and it helped alot now its time for a tune up if i can find a inspection station that will inspect it ive been to a couple and none of them want to inspect it because its lowered which i havent figured out what that has to do with it since everything works has anybody else run into this problem
well i got it inspected now its time for a tune up hopefully that will straighten it out the rest of the way hey bj you said it sould idle around 750-800 now with an auto would that be when it is in park or when it is in gear. cause when i have it in park it idles close to 1000 and when i put it in gear it drops back down around 500
