Wont start/stay running, I'm pissed...

Truck wont start. All new ignition parts, such as cap, rotor button, plugs, wires. Has gas. Turn key, can hear fuel pump running. Truck just turns over and over and over. Will start if I pour gas in the carb, but dies if I take my foot off the gas. I know this has to be a fuel problem, but having trouble diagnosing. I thought fuel pump, but like I said, I hear it running when I turn the key. Remember, mine is the truck missing the fuel computer, and emissions crap. Could that be related?

Ideas?

Yes thats related. With the stock carb with that stuff missing it wont run or if it does itll run really badly.

yes these trucks are on like a gas recycle system.... it takes the fumes from the tank and from the fuel filter and puts them into the carb thus causing less enviormental stress...... the only way you don't need all that stuff is if you have a weber carb conversion

how long did it run good before this? or is this a new truck for you?

New truck for me. So to recap, before I spend big $$, and since every question I ask returns to these two missing parts, here are two questions.

1) The weber carb is a direct swap, no modifications needed?

2) I don't need any of the emissons or the fuel computer crap at all?

Guess I just spent $300.

yes these trucks will run without the emissions vacuum lines but will run really rich. and yes the weber carb conversion is direct swap no mods needed. except a fuel pressure regulator is needed in some cases. and you dont need any of your emissions of computer at all.

I know I have asked this before, so I apologize for the redundancy. I just remember someone saying one of the carbs needed something done to the throttle cable, so I wasn't sure.

the 34 weber will need a different or modded throttle cable. if you do the 32/36 weber it is direct bolt in swap. unless you have some crazy performance mods i would stay with the 32/36 carb. if you need to go bigger later you can just rejet the 32/36.

Problems with some of the early Webers,but the newer ones from Redline are a direct bolt on.BJ

Bump. I have a 34/34 Weber and the stock throttle cable fits just fine.Only small problem I had was reconnecting my cruise.BJ
