i would double check your firing order as well, but it does sound like its out 180

....I just swapped it 180 and the truck shook like a mofo... Nothing more it didn't do anything promising so I put it back.... I tried it this time and it is popping on every stroke now. I'll go do the soda straw thing now.

the easiest way to find tdc is to pop off your upper timing belt cover and shine a flashlight down between the belt and you should be able to see a notch in the timing cog and there is a timing mark on the block there.

Ok so I tired that using a shishkebob stick, I was worried it could be hot. Anyways, when the #1 piston is all the way DOWN the contact lines up. Is that right? When the piston is all the way up I think it lines up with like 3 or something...

Justin, I'll go check that now but I think it is right. So I will line up the one on the outside to TDC then check to see if the inside is lined up also?

Ok so I did that, here is the news, it is lined up EXACTLY with the T. Where is it supposed to be, 6 degrees or something right? How do I fix that? Would it be causing this problem?

Wow... You are a godsend. That guide is amazing. So far I am up to the distributor part I checked each thing the only thing I didn't do was check the valves with the valve cover off but I don't need to cause I used my thumb over the spark plug hole to find the compression stroke and it all checks out so far.

Ok, I worked thru the how to and found no problems. The only things I didn't check is the distributor cause I am a bit confused. When the #1 piston is at TDC and the cam sprocket is at #1 then where should the distributor be? Also, when the #1 piston is firing according to the distributor where should it be? All the way open right? So the #1 on the cam sprocket should be on the complete opposite side of the arrow?
