hmm excellent question, justr so you know runing on 3 cyl. puts a ton of stress on all components

It will work ok.If longer u would stand a chance of the non firing plug turning into a diesel glow plug and really screwing something up but in 5 miles that aint gonna happen.Keep it around 30 and u shoud be fine.BJ

It wont become a glow pulg simply due to the fact that there is no ignition source in that cylinder and therefore no extreme heat or pressure....I would not drive it like that though...Not good for the crank, and it will wash out the rings due to the excessive unburned fuel in the motor.

Hes gotta re-ring it anyway.Number 4 has 90 lb of compression.I dont think a crank is gonna let go in 5 miles at 30 mph. Also he needs to chnage oil when he gets to where hes goin so the fuel wash problem will go away with the used oil.Not the best solution, but if u cant afford the tow,it is A solution.BJ

If you want to protect the plug hole threads, just get one plug adapter at any parts store and leave it open so there is no compression and fuel intake.
5 miles will not hurt. I drove a smoking truck for 10 miles. Drove it between third and fourth gear. Maybe running on 3 cylinders too because the plug hole was stripped. I will repair the threads anyway. I made it home at 30-40 mph.

It was the longest drive I did on the back roads.

I would do what 89b2200 is writing just put your 4 ways on and limp it home and keep the down cyclinder open. Go slow and enjoy the ride. What would a tow cost for 5 miles?
