hey, I've got 1989-1992 Ford Ranger Rearend, From a 4.0L, I believe its a 7.5, but i was told something about where the diff cover bolts to is all Cast? And i cant weld to it? Im not sure...? Help me out here guys, Im mounting bags over axle, and this rearend, and doing a 2wd Toyota Pickup Frontend conversion for the same 5bolt pattern.
the 4.0 usually had an 8.8 rear in them...and yes it is all cast and no you caannot weld to the pumkin, at least not safely. post a pic of the diff cover and I can tell you if its an 8.8 or a 7.5
It looks more like a Stop sign...flat top and sides, and rounded corners...well somewhat, you know what i mean, Im pretty sure its a Ford 7.5
thats a 7.5
and thats an 8.8
Hmmmm....guess its an 8.8? let me check the Tag
pretty much if it has a diff cover it's cast. if the 3rd member drops in from the front then it's all steel. correct me if i'm wrong, but that's been my experience.
ya your right every truck I have had is been like that.
Alright...Im doing a 302 swap if your wondering why im using a Ranger Rearend, and Im pickin up a C4 Trans for $20, cant go wrong there...
... unless it's junk and you spend $1,000 at a tranny shop getting it rebuilt lol. knock on wood
Its only $20, if its works it works, will find out. i could always sell it or using it for parts...meh..no biggy
