I have seen an 88 short cab (Blare's) with a single piece driveshaft.
The yoke is a female spline that moves in and out of the tranny output shaft.
It should just slide out of the tranny output shaft.
i had a friend with an older standard cab with a one piece too, but mine's a two-piecer.
^^ interesting, i may have to start searching the local yards, i've never been a fan of the 2-piece units....
Thanks for the replies but im still having trouble. I do have a 87, reg cab with a one piece drive shaft Im tring to get it out cause I am doin 87 toyota spindles and rear I think there is a clip im just gonna check tommorow but thanks again
I have had alot of mazda's, stick and auto and the single piece drive shaft is mostly on the auto regular cab short boxes.
if it's a one piece drive shaft and you've gotten the bolts on the 3rd member it has to slide outta the tranny. the front has a slip yolk to allow for driveline length change over suspension travel. if it didn't the driveline would punch the tranny every time you went over a bump and it wouldn't last 5 miles!!
when you unbolt it from the 3rd member push it foreward just a scoshe to let the universal joint come loose and it really should just pull out, no clip whatsoever. you might need a hammer and block of wood to tap it out. the rear seal on the tranny might be tight. be sure to have a plug to plug the rear of the tranny b/c fluid will leak out if you don't
Yep but true to form I have a 2200 auto short bed and a 2600i ext cab 5 speed and both have 2 piece shafts.Weird.BJ
