Ok so my 86 has roughly 274k of highway miles mostly, the owner before me drove it about 200 miles a day back and fourth from work. The truck runs good, just smokes a god awful amount till it warms up.
Heres my question what should i do rebuild it fully, or just replace the valves and gaskets, I want it to be reliable driver without the smokefest.
Obviosly I dont want to go into a fully crazsy motor swap, just want to be reliable for a good price.

pull it out, have it acid dipped and inspected. if the cyl. walls are good just have it rehoned and the rods checked. install new rings and have the head rebuilt. use fel-pro gaskets, and you will have a nice running machine with good gas mileage for around 600 bucks.
if you are running a stock carb, trash it and get a weber. best money i ever spent!
