I need some suggestions
You may also want to get a fan shroud. 2600's are prone to blow a head gasket when they get too hot. Mine did. The check engine light will come on at certain mileage, not saying this is why yours is on.
Ill get a fan shroud for it until I get an eletric fan. Its got 133,000 miles on it. Ill take a closer look at the MAF tomorow. They replaced it with another used one I believe because I have the other one in the back seat. Thanks for the heads up on the hose clamps, Ill check those tomorow. Where would I go about buying a scanner and would it be worth it to buy one or just take it somewhere to get it checked?
The MAF is to close to the suction point, it may not read the correct air flow readings.
Try to put a hose or tubing at least 4 diameters long between the MAF and the filter to reduce the turbulence in the MAF sensor.
I would not advise you to even begin looking for a scanner to read these trucks, the only scanner available that are capable of reading them are high end and very expensive, as in the 5000$$$ to 6000$$$ range. You would be better off taking it to a shop. I remember hearing that Pepboys would pull the codes for something like 20 or 30 dollars. But like I said, it something I "heard". Just for your information, I got rid of my stock airbox, bought an adapter that attached on the end of the MAF and then put a universal conical filter on it. I dont think turbulance would be an issue with this type of setup, maybe with the stock airbox yes, but with a conical filter you pretty much remedy that. I also got rid of the resonator, if I had a camera, I would take a picture to show you, it works very good and sounds even better. Good luck.....L8RS!!
