i don't think that the rearends out of the early mazda will holdup to too much power.....check into a yota rear some of those you can get a 3.58:1 ratio from i think 89-96 or 97 years.....

the motor from paeco is a mazda f2 just like our trucks theY offer it in 4 stages of hp, and they can custom grind you a cam too...check out this link...

as far as the lightweight flywheel it has the same counterbalance weight built in the same position as the stock unit, and as long as you are still running the o.e. crank pulley there shouldn't be any harmonics prob.which shouldn't effect the engine performance or reliability.

Thanks. I do know that you cant screw with the crank pulley or you will have serious engine balance issues. How did Paeco get interested in hot rodding f2 engines?Sounds like a strange market niche. I will check them out . Thanks again. BJ

from what i've read off their site, the guy started his business outa his garage, & he raced in scca comp back in the 60's, eventually he had more business than time for racing, & grew from the garage to where they are now. they offer stuff for all kinda cars, porsche, ferrari, vw, jag, lotus, mg, nissan, mazda, toyota, you name it they prob have it or can make it from what i've seen.

i got my engin rebuilt back in Feb, nothin done to it but bored 40 over, one day, itll be replaced by a supercharged 302 and mustang rear end, dont wanna snap nothin. our engines dont really have a lot of hp but i can get cars of the start, i raced my friend who has a spec v and beat him off the line until about 3rd gear. they always get me there except for this one guy in a civic, i smashed him.

I checked them out yesterday. They make a 2200 block they call extended use that has 148 hp for about 4k. It is a slightly detuned Stage II that is supposed to be stone cold relaible. I think that is what I will shoot for.I dont think my A/T will hold up under a hotter engine, plus I want to keep my air. BJ

Anybody had any experience tuning a Mazda A/T for slightly higher shift points? I know you can tune TH350 and TH400 GM trannys but dont recall seeing any info on the Mazda tranny. Thanks. BJ

I think mine is slow because of the automatic. Also, my frame of reference is a full out Volvo S40R that puts about 220 hp to the ground.Lol.Compared to it lots of things are slow. BJ

Back when the poor little F2 (2.2L Carb.) blew out in my 89 B2200 w/ 197,000 miles on it I rebuilt the block to its (almost) original glory, I ended up searching for OEM B2200 pistons to no avail, so we (my dad, some mechanic, & myself) came to the idea that we might be able to retrofit another set of pistons so we did exactly that.. We shaved the block to make room for these slightly larger pistons (thank god for a totaled CX9), & stuck them in there, we also replaced the carburetor from some company in China (damned if I remember), & welded a new exhaust manifold.

120hp 315 Ft./LBS. of torque
