hi yall this is my first post and i got a question, what can cause crankcase pressure? i got an 89 b2200 and when i first brought it home it was missing and smoking and had oil all over the air filter coming from the breather in the valve cover. i just dont know where to start, i got the idle and miss it had fine now the only problem is the oil croming from the valve cover to the airfilter and an oil leak coming from somewhere on the bottom front of the motor. the oil leak is more like and oil spill and only starts leakin hardcore when the truck warms up. i just need to get it fixed long enough to pass inspection and then im droppin a v8 in the bad boy. thanks for any info you all can come up with

I think it might mean your rings are gone and you are getting alot of blow by. Same thing happened to mine before I rebuilt it.

thats what i thought also but, after adusting the carb and stuff i am not getting anymore smoke. if the rings were bad it would smoke all the time wouldnt it?

i edited your title to try to get more people to check it out.
all i can say is that if our rings were bad it would def smoke about all the time, but i wouldnt say they are ok for sure.
when mine were bad it would smoke a lot, then just a little after the truck was all warmed up.

yeah check the pcv valve and the vacuum line running to it, make sure its not clogged or kinked. get a new pcv valve just for shits and giggles, there like $3. make sure it's sucking hard at idle, if its not sucking then look "upstream." check your valve cover breather hose for blockage, but sounds like there's none if its getting oil up into the air cleaner. i'd bet something with the pcv valve or hose.

ok, yesterday i put in a new pcv valve and i was low on oil so i added a quart and its like i got even more pressure now and tons of oil came out of the breather tube and it just was ridiculous. fug it im just gonna stat lookin for a v8

DOES IT STILL HAVE THE CAT HOOKED UP ONTO THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD?
IF IT IS CLOGGED UP, YOU WILL CAUSE BACK PRESSURE, UNSEAT THE RINGS, AND EVENTUALLY HAVE BLOWBY IN THE CYLINDERS, ALSO THE OIL LEAK DOWN LOW IS PROB THE OIL PUMP.....IF THE CAT'S ARE STILL THERE, CUT THEM OFF, NEW HEAD GASKET, AND OIL PUMP GASKET AND THAT SHOULD FIX-R-UP, IF YOU HAVEN'T DAMAGED THE PISTON RINGS.....

GOOD LUCK!
