i put 0w 30 motor oil in my truck about 70 miles ago and it hasn't ticked again
i assume you mean 10w30. mine ticks when cold, but very shortly. need time to get the oil circulating.
nope 0w 30 full synthetic it cleans out your HLA's just as good as any additive
I need to do the ATF thing just for some maintenance. Things got a lot of miles on it and been over due for an oil change for some time now anyway. I only get a tick first thing if the oil is low, and also after running at 65 or so for a while on the interstate.
I gotta drive about 80 miles to and fro in bout 4 weeks so I better go ahead and do the ATF for a week or 2 and then do a change and see how she does on the open road
you guys have me curious now. i just rebuilt my engine and have had nothing but hell with it, but i finally got all of the kinks worked out of it except it sounds like a lifter is ticking when it warms up. i run 10w30 castrol, should i drop to 5w30??? i am the same as low87dawg, not used to working on 4 bangers, mainly on ford v8's. an engine is an engine until you look at $3.00 302 lifter compared to a $12.00 2.2L lifter. haha.
if your problem is when it warms up, then switching to 5w from 10w wont do anything.
the first number of a dual weight oil is how it will pour unheated. I cant say cold, because thats different. But the second number is operating temp weight, and they are both 30.
I dont recommend 0w, you'll get a lot of startup wear with that.
86-87 B2000 engines valve lash is to be adjusted HOT! Don't know the spec off hand, think it is .030'' My old 86 cab plus was noisy when I bought it. Set that valve lash and BAM! Runs like a sewing machine- nice and quiet.
yea but can u set the valve lash on a 2200?
it looks as there is no way to set it
