I wrecked my old truck and swapped the motor into a new one. I have a Weber 38 and a pacesetter header. I had to replace the fan and the dist. My problem is I tried to crank it once and it fired. I was tired at the time so I went to bed. Next day it wont fire. My vacumn advance line is filling with gas. I know I need a new diaphram for the dist but someone said something about a float or needle valve problem. Will either of those cause me to get gas in my vac advance line? Or what is causing that?

DISCONNECT THE VACCUM LINE ON THE CARB, AND SEE IF FUEL IS COMING OUT OF THE BARB, IF IT IS THEN YOU HAVE CARB PROBS. & NEED MAY NEED TO ADJUST THE FLOATS, OR HAVE IT REBUILT, I DON'T THINK
IT WOULD BE A NEEDLE VALVE PROB. THO....IF NOT I'D TRY THE NEW DIAPHRAM ON THE DIZZY .

Thanks.

Also, just so there is no confusion, on a Weber 38 the vacumn adavance hooks up RIGHT above the fuel line. They cant be more than 1/2 in apart.

The rebuild kits Ive seen for the 38 dont say anything about a new float.

Ok, gas does come out of the barb. How do I adjust the floats?

GOT TO THIS LINK, THIS IS WHERE I GOT MY 38, THEY ARE VERY HELPFUL, SO IF YOU CAN'T GET TI STRAIGHT, GIVE THEM A CALL & THEY CAN STEER YOU IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.

AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE IT SHOWS SOME TYPICAL DRAWINGS OF THE
FLOAT.

ONCE THERE IF YOU GO TO THE REDLINE WEBER TECH INFO>TYPICAL DGV INSTALL VIEWS, IT WILL GIVE A DIAGRAM OF WHERE THE VACCUM LINE HOOKS UP IN RELATION TO THE FUEL LINE.
