Dead Battery...

So I figure i've gotta have a drain on my battery somewhere... how am I going to find it? I dunno.

I've killed 2 batteries now, the truck hasn't ran in a while(month or more), so I boosted it, let it run for 30+ mins, and then turned it off only to find out its completely dead.

So i guess it was running off the alternator all that time.

Any suggestions?

thanks!

if its a regular cheapy parts store battery and you let it sit for that long, you are deep cycling it and craining it, therefore it wont hold a charge, you should either get a trickle charger, ( around $30 at sears ) or look into a deep cycle battery like an optima red or yellow top

hope that helps

But something is draining the battery.. best bet is to put a volt meter on the battery.. and start pulling fuses until u find out whats draining the battery.. i had to do that not to long ago.. it sucked

even without something drawing on the battery it would go dead if it sat that long, even if he jumps it if its already done it will run for a little while so it could go either way i guess, that sucks

well the battery was/is rock solid frozen!

but the prior battery wasn't so I conclude there is a drain on the system somewhere.

Mike I like your idea of pulling the fuses... I was wondering how the hell I was gonna narrow down the drain!

thanks!

I will get to work on it this week hopefully.
