I would go with the 84 or 87 but I prefer the 6 lug variants to the Ranger knock-offs.

reasons?? honestly curious. i want to learn about all the faults, goods, pros, cons, you know even if its just a personal opinion.

I'm partial to the 87 too. I'm not familiar with pre-86 trucks, but the 86 to 93 trucks have a fully boxed frame.
You don't find factory boxed frames from US auto makers.
The Japanese really over-built these trucks!
