what year 626 alternater
bolts up and what are the amps?
thanks
pretty sure its only the mustang cobra that bolts up man
ok i got the trbo 626 alt now i need to know what the 3 prongs go to(its where the stack plug went)
Sorry Todd, I do not know which terminal is which, but I do know that one terminal goes to "switched ignition" to energize the alternator. Another terminal runs the "idiot" light and in the case of our trucks a 3rd terminal powers the electric choke. Guess I would have to see a 626 wiring diagram to figure it out.
For one, 626, MX6, and Ford probe alternators all bolt up (4cyl models from 89-92, turbo and NA.). I've seen guys run RX7 ones, 929 ones, etc.
The F2T alternators (MX6, Probe, 626) are 70amps, so only a small upgrade from the B2200 one. As for the wires, I can't think of it off the top of my head. I know if you go to one of the specific forums (I'm 99% sure it's the probe one (performanceprobe.com)) there is an entire thread about alternator swaps. It covers which ones bolt up, their amperages, and which of the 3 terminals is for which wire.
That's the thread I was thinking of there I believe.
I did a little reading and apparently on the alternator the terminals are lettered? S should go to switched power. P goes to the battery. No info yet on the 3rd.
I've got a F2T alternator in my garage right now... and the F2T shop manual. I'll look and respond with the correct info (The stuff above was just from a quick forum search so take it as such.)
thanks man that really helps
