The most popular book most likely on coffee tables in German homes in 1940 was Mein Kampf.
It wasn't because it was the most widely read.
I don't know if that quote is even in that book.
But you take away the ability of a citizen to defend himself or his family and you take away his ability to keep his family and friends from being exterminated.

I went back and looked at this article. . .
"The proposed treaty is opposed by conservative U.S. think tanks like the Heritage Foundation, which said last month that it would not restrict the access of "dictators and terrorists" to arms but would be used to reduce the ability of democracies such as Israel to defend their people.
The U.S. lobbying group the National Rifle Association has also opposed the treaty.
A resolution before the U.N. General Assembly is sponsored by seven nations including major arms exporter Britain. It calls for preparatory meetings in 2010 and 2011 for a conference to negotiate a treaty in 2012."
So it looks like there is time to write letters to Congress, as boring as that sounds, and make sure they know exactly how you feel on this issue.
They are YOUR representatives, and some of them will actually LISTEN to what your concerns are.
If you don't get involved, those who do call the shots. And when they do, you can't complain about it, because you did nothing.
