yeh thats the easy part, mine was a square D panel.
my welder needed a 50 amp plug and breaker, I used the heavy duty ext mount box, and use armoured cable if its gonna be outside of the wall do that for sure and that should comply with most codes
I dont know much about how to install a new outlet in my shop.. Im not even in the state so i cant look.. all i know is my house has one for sure (the laundry room).
its really quite simple, the breaker switch is double width, cuz it uses two circuits, 115 v x 2 = 230 v
so you have 3 wires to connect to the breaker switch, 1 blk power , @ 115 and 1 red power, @ 115, then , you have a white or green wire you connect to the block inside the panel, with all the other ones from the other circuits.
there is a little more to it let me know if ya need help I can supply pics for ya too.
If ya go to yer local electrical supply shop they will have whatcha need, and will make sure they sell ya the right parts
I have quite a bit of electrical experience and am willing to help, so when ya get home let me know.
oh and it depends on the welder ya get, as to the actual plug to accomodate
Yeah I understand that part. Just dont know how to add an additional 220v outlet with what i currently have.
Whoops sorry mazdaman.. didnt see the first part. i will look into it when i get back at the end of march. Thanks for the imput. Sounds fairly simple.. i deal with electronics for surveillance all the time so this should be simple with a little instruction.
all good bro as promised here are some pics

okay the specific 50 amp plug I had was a 5 wire connection lol
yeah i see exactly what you mean.
My breaker looks much different. Its flat with all the switches when you look at it with no wires exposed in the front. But i will figure it out.
lol I took the cover off for ya so you could see the wiring, Is yours square D?
these braekers snap in, sylvania and other brands have ones that screw in, those suck, I prefer squre D panels better quality and easier to work on, more parts too
