the tomb is gaurded 24/7. there is some one on the plaza at all times. the way it works is there are three reliefs and each relief has around five people. your work schedule is 24 on 24 off 24 on 24 off 24 on 4 days off, (every day your on you don't sleep and they end up being 30 hour work days). that sound like alot of free time right. WRONG lol. during every bit of free time you have, your either pressing and steaming your uniform(4 to 8 hours per uniform, plus you have 5-6 uniforms), shining your brass and painting/roushing your scabbard(4 to 6 hours), shining your shoes by hand with Kiwi(6 to 18 hours) studying 16 pages of Knowledge(its facts about the tomb and the cemetery, you have to know it verbadem. down to where a coma or period goes, every hour you study( you even listen to it on audio when you sleep, seiously!) did i mention everything gets pressed, from your tie down to your shoe laces
hey thanks Jeff i appreciate it and im sorry for your loss. i know the Navy did there best to render full honors for him
