Back in 1989 I worked at a body shop and we did this to my "88" Mazda. IT LEAKS!!!! We took our time, read the instructions, did everything just as they said. IT LEAKS!!!!. I had 2 buddies do it to the trucks they owned at the time. One a mazda and one a D-50.....THEY LEAKED.......I have known more than 6 people along with myself that did this along with 1 targa top. THEY LEAK GUARANTEED. The only way they dont leak is if you DONT DO IT. Now that being said. IF I were to do this again I would do it all in metal and make my own kit. I would also plan on only driving it under DRY weather conditions. Just my 2c.......I did love it when it was sunny and 90.

everyone that i know of that has done this has had it leak. the biggest problem are is where the roof and bow meet. there is a gap there over the window. thats where it leaks into the cab. badchicken had his roadster a convertible at first. that wa his complaint as well. thats why its a roadster now.

I did mine back in 88-89. the hardtop leaks exactly where snoplow said. i did the soft top a couple years later, still leaks, same spot.

if you cut your roof, it will leak.
it does not seal good for a while, and make you feel all warm and fuzzy, it leaks instantly.

see where the black part is on the roof? where that comes down and meets with the window, thats where it leaks. this is about as good of a pic that i have right now, short of going out in the freeking cold and pulling the cover off and taking a new pic.

thanks for putting up that pic, i added some arrows to better explain

when the truck is still, the water runs along the bow and along the drip rail over the bow into that hole. if you can eliminate gravity, you can fix that.

when your driving, it runs up the drip rail and into that same hole between the bows.

hope that helps

Yes thank you for posting that.

Is that the only Place it leaks?

How did you combat the top window rail? does it attach to the removable top or snap back in the Orig door frame?
