ah nice thats gonna be a really creative and involved project good luck man
heim joints on the 4 link?
Triangles = strength!!
May I suggest a watts link or a panhard bar?
Watts link should give ya extra credit its brilliant engineering!
That or you must triangulate your 4 link, to keep the axle in place, Im prolly not tellin ya nuttin ya dont already know, personally I would email Max Fish my plan before I started, He is a wicked smart dude, and always willin ta help.
I would also narrow the front end for big wheel clearance and steering, and I would simulate a Z in the frame.
And also gusset the cab mounts back to the frame,
Wish I had that kind of education.
Best o luck with the build def build a thread!!
oh yeah tranny xmember, too, I'm sure ya didnt forget, prolly jus waitin fer mock up right?
I would do an x fer the frame in the middle, like the old cars did.
I used to have an apperenticeship in a custom shop where my boss was a carriageman, licsenced frame builder.
I learned a lot from him.
Are you in MIT or something?
Yeah its just a basic model, the transmission crossmember will be done after I figure out when engine im going to use. There will be more gussets/braces etc. on the real thing. I do plan to narrow the front clip to be able to run wider wheels with 2wd metal. The lower bars are triangulated, hard to see in the picture though. Im not sure about heims, I might just use bushings. I dont really care about hitting sides so bushings would work just fine. And no im not at MIT, not even close to being smart enough to go there.
Heres a pic of what the lower bars will probably look like...
