Remember Not to Get Sidetracked

So I was headed out to the drive way today with my Dewalt sawsall in hand. I had intentions of cutting out my inner fenders so I could begin bagging the truck. Besides it quit snowing and the sun was shining and I believe it was finally about 20 degrees.

I walked through the front door and was disgusted with how the front door sealed on the house. Having wood heat this small rush of air from the top of the door wasn't a big deal, but merely an annoyance to me. So I put down the sawsall, and went to the basement for more tools.

I looked at how the door wasn't closing correctly and chiseled out more of the casing to move the hinges closer to the case. So I moved the hinges, and now the door wont shut. Now I'm a little frustrated but figure I'll put them back and leave it be. Yep that was the plan and it blew up in my face. The door now wouldn't shut unless it was slammed extremely hard. Then I noticed that the top hinges was warped, I slammed the door shut and picked up my 4# hammer. I tapped the hinge, and some more trying to make it pull in the top of the door. I must have been pretty pissed by then cause when I missed the hinge on the 4th or 5th blow I shattered the top corner off of a solid oak door.

So off to the building supply place hoping to god that I can get a good door for $150 or less. I find a pre-hung steel door with insert detail panels that similar to the oak door I destroyed, and oh yes it's only $149. So many hours later I have a new front door. I'm kinda glad I do cause the old one I took out was only held in by a few finish nails, which I believe was the only problem in the first place, the casing shifted.

Now on to the moral of the story. When heading out to work on the truck... the hell with the house, I'm just working on my truck.
