1985 BMW 325e

there no plastic timing gear thingy, let me see if i have an open pic of my motor when i rebuilt it lol.

what to offer, depends on condition and what u want it for and how much work it needs

heres a pic, not my pic, just a tensioner and belt and 2 gears, cam gear and a gear on the back of the crank (kinda hard to see it in this pic)



these motors are interfearence motors so if the belt did or does go there will be damage to the valves or pistons, but again used or new parts arent that bad.

Ya but I'm not too motor savvy... Your build looks good but for now I'm jus tryin to get a daily that has some potential to be cool... I'm not speed freak so it doesn't have to fly but kinda fast would be cool... The car is in generally good shape, jus doesn't run... Is it easy to get the timing cover off to check the belt?? any inspection plate or anything???

its as easy as removing 2 or 3 distributor cap screws, removing the cap and you will see the belt

fyi, i have a set of corbeau racing seats/brackets and powdercoated gloss black bottlecaps for it on ebay right now

i got 2 free empty short blocks (1 needs boreing) and 2 325i cranks for free (1 needs polishing or regrind) also and other misc parts

ok well i jus dont know what could've happened to make it not run again after backfiring... nothin that would be easy to fix at least... esp since its an interference motor

backfire =timing related, more then likely timing chain or belt broke

ya i jus called my uncle and he said the same thing... i think im gonna have to pass on this car...

u gota spend some time checking it out. i would like u said check the timing belt.
do a compression test/leakdown and check for spark/fuel, standard basics. when was the last timing belt done also? that may help?
