It can be, but our company really has saved quite a bit by implementing it. You have to realize we're talking about a factory with 2400 plus employees, and 65 acres under one roof. It empowers the employees to take ownership of what they do every day and kind of makes them give a crap again.

Our plant was the "crown jewel" of U.S. operations for years as we were the benchmark for our other plants to perform to. We were fat and happy. THEN globalization opened up and we were passed like we had the anchor out.

It has taken a lot of time to get back in the running, but things are looking better. Continental has invested 220 million in our plant, so they believe it can happen here. They could've easily built a brand new plant anywhere in the world for that kind of jack. That is important to me, because there aren't very many high paying jobs close by.

im an engineer at Ti-Lite where we build pretty much the cadillac/corvette of wheelchairs. we specialize in titanium but also build cheaper aluminum chairs. most of the time im at a computer working on Solidworks or Autocad but i also do a lot of wrenching and training on lathes and mills. its a pretty cool job and i have access to a lot of cool tools. most of the chairs we build are custom built everyday ones but we build a lot of sport chairs like this one below is for wheelchair tennis.
