what kind of welder you guys using

ive been looking to buy one and wanted to get some feedback. if you could let me know what kind it is, how many volts and amps it is. and do you prefer a mig or stick? ive been doing some practice welding at the shop and my supervisor is an ex-welder so he has been giving me advice and lessons and just wanted to see what yall had to say. btw he swears by a stick welder but i tried it tonight and its a little trickier.

best to learn on a stick welder first, i have a millermatic 150 and a 30yr old craftsman stick welder, both 220v

I have a 110v craftsman, Its Mig, And it works well, its a gas or flux I always use the gas cuz well I dont like flux lol

what about for all yalls chassis and suspension work what are yall using a stick or mig?

ok 1st sorry for my inexperience for welding and knowledge of. so slammedyota you got a good weld to hold good off of a 110v craftsman? im not arguing with ya cause i really dont know. like i said i have just been practicing at work and my supervisor has been giving advice. but he was telling me that a welder even like you described could weld a frame but he said i would have to do more prep work to weld it. like cutting a V into it. i am getting to wear i can lay some decent looking beads and i want one for the house but im trying to figure out what is going to best suit my needs.

i got a10 mig for body work and a 20 yo..220 stick for chassis work..can be done with 110 but 220 is much easier

i use a hobart 187 .

I have a hobart 140. Its a 110v mig on gas. I like it alot. Miller makes hobart so you know its a quality welder
