miller is the best in my book. if your wantin 1/4" then your gonna want a 220.

but they are expensive

you'll have to bevel all the 1/4" welds and make a few passes

hey just for your knowledge hobart is made by miller the handler 135 is the same as the miller mini mig but 250 bucks less (pick it up for 350$) it is a dual purpose welder flux cored and mig(gas) its an awsome buy

im just really learning to weld i have mostly just done sheet metal but i see no point in buying one if im not gonna be able to weld anything more im planning on bagging m truck myself and i have someone to do the welding since i dont really trust my own welds on something like that yet so whatever i get has to be able to handle 1/4" with no problems thats why i was thinking about the hobart 140 since i can plug it into a regular outlet and it will weld up to 1/4"

it will but safely all the edges needs to be beveled and multi-pass.

not true you just have to make sure you get good penetration and no under burn (only weld thick plate with a mig or tig welder ) something with a shielding gas argon or argon co2 mix it is 100000 times more consistant than flux core you could even get a stick welder for heavy stuff but then you couldnt weld sheet metal a good hobart miller or lincoln 135-205 will do what ever most people will need (if not take it to a welding shop)
