Ok everyone,
As some of you know i am in the process of opening a shop, well my second father (second family type deal) has been pestering me about starting off with detailing for the LONGEST time, and i finally thought it over and im wondering whether or not i should go for it? i need advice if i do it would be just to get the funds the company would slowly build up but potentially still do detailing in the future, with show season just around the corner and everyone being to lazy to wash their own cars this could work, but i dont want to go ahead and put money into something thats completely off track of what im planning and then just find out its going to be a dud. whats your advice for me? do it or dont? im stuck here guys and need some advice.
Thanks alot

hey man if you need money to get goin anything will help even if you open a shop people will always need something washed or waxed so i think go for it
Yep, I agree, It will give you more money to put towards other things. When starting a new business, You almost never make money at first, You keep investing it.
that sounds like a great idea. just let your customers know that you can install rims and stuff like that too and it will keep progressing from there.

^ Sounds like some good advice!
if you have ever watched the show unique whips. the castro guy that runs and owns the shop started with detailing cars and now he is doing all kind of high end cars like lambos for celebrities like 50 cent.

ya detailing is a good start but you need a shop can't run it at home everything needs to be clean and the rim thing make sure you have the machines first before saying anything bro.
Lot of the dealerships here have started their own detailing shops.Would be hard to compete with them.If u can locate a SCORE near u (Service Council of Retired Execs) they can help u or so can the Chamber of Commerce or Better Business Bureau.Find a niche (busy women or Execs that have little time) and ask the local parts/speed shops to refer to u.UNDERPROMISE and OVERDELIVER your service. If u say the car will be ready at 2 have it ready at 1.People appreciate that.Set a reasonable price for your service and stick with it-people do not mind paying for good work.Keep ur shop/work area/yourself clean and neat.Nothing turns off a customer more than a dirty shop and a dirty ,unkept person working on their car.Hope this helps.BJ
Just make sure the place doesn't look like shit and its professional. My buddy tried to open his own shop, and his friends kept hanging around the shop with their trucks and cars, and ran off the paying folk. Watch that, thats my advice.
find a good spot for it and whore it out with fliers and stuff but one good coment from a customer is better than 100 posters
