a/c questions

while checking for voltage at the relay on top of blower motor with a test light it kicks the compressor on. I followed the wire to the fan switch then to the blower resistor. From here I can't tell where it goes has anyone had this problem? Does anybody know if there is any reason I shouldn't maybe run a switch to ground this wire? Have not been able to track down any loose grounds or anything else.
