Working on it right now, well actually letting the u-joints soak. 1 1/2 ton press hasn't budged them yet. Other than that piece of cake.

Yes I have the c-clips off.

I will do a full write up for everyone.

u joint caps come out the side not press in. take a hammer and tap on a side of the driveline and use the u joint still attached to put the cap out the side.

All right, there is a difference btw the auto and manual transmissions. The bearing and seal sizes are different. Oriellys evidently doesn't know that, or any other place for that matter . But this place that sells what I need. I don't know how to buy it from them yet, of course being Saturday afternoon they are closed. So the write up will have to wait.

I am a mechanic, a boat one, but I change u-joints quite often. It's pretty easy to use the press to press them out. They were just stuck good, a little heat and some penetrating fluid and they came out. Now see above post.

yeah ive never used a press to pop out ujoints... i've had to change them on the side of the road, or yankin drive lines out at pull a part and the hammer has always worked for me =)

Been there, I like doing it the shop with cool tools a lot better.

I just ordered what I hope to be the right part. It was almost $90 compared to the $50 for the other but what you gonna do. So hopefully I can finish it Friday.

I wish ours was shiny like that! And that is the exact part I got, anchor #8551. IT WAS WRONG GRRRR!

Heck I would have had it done in less than an hour, or I should say my kid, he has to do the work it's his truck.

Okay I have a question. When I went to put it back in it did not line up at all with the mounts. Looking at it it is a pretty dumb design, there is no slip btw the center bearing and the rear axle, it is all in the rubber of the center bearing mount itself I suppose. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
