I need to replace the carrier bearing in my Son's truck. Orielly and Napa both tell me they don't list one for a 2600 but they do for a 2200. I got on oreilly's website and can find it for both on there. But the one for the 2600 does not look anything like I got, but the one for the 2200 does. They have to order it and I want to get this thing back on the road this weekend. Does anyone know part #'s or run into this. It is a 1993 b2600i.

Here is what I found on Oreilly's website.

2600

2200

it looks as tho one is the entire unit... the other is just the internal bearing itself that would be inside the whole unit... and i believe you have to have a driveline shop or someone with a good press be able to get that carrier bearing on and off... thats why i havent changed mine....

According to my manual it is just a snap ring. I have a good press. I will do a writeup on it this weekend for the tech section.

And I called orielly's to order one and got a different guy and he said it listed the one for a 2600 also not just the 2200 like the website and the guy last night told me. So we will see Saturday morning.

I don't think you need one.

The second link is cheaper than the dealership. I think the last one I picked up from mazda was around the $50 mark an they said something that there were only something like 50 or so left. You dont need a press for any of this work. I'd mark the driveline so it can be put back together in the same balance as before. Knock the caps on the back half in just enough to get the snap rings out(may have to do this one at a time). Once the front half is freed from the back there's a nut on the inside of the yoke that holds the carrier on, take that off an dont lose the split washer(might be right close to 1-1/4"). Now to get the carrier off, if I remember right the way I did mine was use a punch on the back edge just outside of the rear seal on the carrier and alternate sides(might take some playing or change of technique). Now if you got the carrier off you'll more than likely be replacing both front an rear seals on the carrier. Now if I memmory is correct there's a inner snap ring behind the front seal, once that's out you can alternate from one side to the other or just work you way around the inner races to get the bearings out. I think the rear bearing is just held in by a snug fitment. I used a piece of brass an a socket to push the bearings back in. Hope this helps without any pics, I should have took some when I did mine.

Mine is completely shot, the rubber is actually broke so I have to replace the entire thing. It looks like it is pretty easy, depending how it comes apart. So far everything has been easy to get apart on this truck.

I have pics (somewhere) of doing a carrier bearing replacement. I do not have any presses and it went pretty smoothly. Think it took about 45 minutes start to finish.
