Ok I have my 91 Ext 2600i. The direction im more leaning towards with my truck is like a pro street look with a mild ls swap instead of trying to stuff a set of 22's under it. Granted I still want like an 18 x 7 or 8 in the front and a wide 20 inch wheel in the back with a narrowed full back half and narrowed rear end, triangled four link with bags and still wanting to sit on frame. Why? Because its different. Practical? Maybe or maybe not. But y do we chop our trucks and drag em to hell. Cause its wat each individual person likes. I know as with any project takes time and money. Wat I want to know is wat you guys think is a better way to go. I want to bag my truck, should I go with a simple bag job on my stock rims to make me happy now or save up for all I want to do and do it then. The front is pretty generic but will have to clearance fenders when I get the 18's and the simple notch will get redone when I do the back half. I know im making it sound more simple then the work that needs to be done but that will be addressed later when that time comes

I think you should go for it. Do the mods as you can afford them, but I would reccommend spending a little money up front to have a rendering drawn up. Then you will have a goal to work towards.

this is kind of the direction i've been thinking of going, but with a slightly different approach for me. still bagged, but i want to be able to track it, 1/4 mile, road race, autox, drift. i want to be able to play on the same field as some of the newer or just different transportation platforms. i want to push the ms3's, the ms6's, the turbo'd miatas. i want to give the nissans a run around the course. im trying to figure out exactly how i want to take mine, be it a turbo'd fe3, or a rotary, i want to stick with mazda for the power plant.

but when i leave the track i want to be able to go and drag the hell out of my truck... i need to be able to find a way to keep the truck slammed to the ground for track purposes, with the suspension being stiff enough to not allow body roll around corners... maybe a bracket retaining system to keep bags at a fuller inflation, but limit lift...?

only advice i got is to plan ahead. set it up to the size of wheels and tires you want to run. that way you wont have to redo and spend more later.

Thanks for the input guys. Yeah that topic with that luv is definitely motivational. That Guy has a lot of money tied up in that truck. 91extcab yeah that's kinda wat I would like to do with mine as well. In the topic above with the luv I seen one pic he had limit straps bolted from the frame to his control arms so maybe a way to go. And im prolly going with a lug swap to have a Better selection of wheels. I know kid brootal was doing renderings but seems mia. Who else can do them

I can tell you guys this, if you are serious about racing, do yourself a favor and pick up the rule book for whatever track you are using. I couldn't run my bagged truck at the local track because they viewed the bags as a saftey issue. Many racing venues require your suspention to be "manually adjustable" I imagine you could accomplish this by temporay schrader valves replacing the electric valves, but you need to run this through your track saftey inspection team. The guys at the track told me that if there were even the slightest chance that an airline would fail, it would have catastrfic effects down track. This is why you see coil-over suspensions on drag cars, auto-cross cars, etc. My suggestion is to build a race specific car and keep your truck an air-bagged daily dragger, or go with a race style suspension and eliminate the bags.

I've also been thinking of an alternate bracket setup. Have a set of brackets setup to accept a set of coilovers. Then either disconnect the airline or remove the bag all together to show its not riding on air if they needed to see that

now thats something i didnt think of! that sounds like a really really good idea... custom set of springs that maybe have endcaps that could bolt in where the bag bolts in...??
