Hey Folks,

I have a 1984 Mazda B2k Sundowner, 4 cyl, 2.0L 5 speed with 143k miles.

Tonight (hot night) as I pulled into my driveway, I heard a 'pop!' followed by water dripping onto the ground. I looked under my truck, and spotted the blue cap off the overflow reservoir.

When I popped the hood ... I saw the overflow reservoir filled with dark, greasy cruddy water. We can see a small oil seep at the bottom of the head ... The temp gauge never went up and my oil (while a quart down) was dark not milky.

I flushed the radiator 8 weeks ago. It was dirty.

Is oil in the reservoir a sign, the head gasket is ready to go? If so, any idea of cost to repair?

TIA

yup sounds like the head gasket is gone. well i think a upper gasket kit runs for about $50. usually shops can do it for around $500 or less.
