You really did open a can of worms. I don't mind people buying stuff already built. For one it's cheaper and easier.
Not a lot of people know it, but when I bought my 83 originally. It was already bagged, but very haggard and hacked. Some ghetto shit for sure. Now 6 years later, I have completely redone everything. So I guess you can say, bought then rebuilt x 3.
I really can't stand the whole attitude towards a BUILT NOT BOUGHT truck. Sounds cocky and arrogant. Same goes for DRAG AND DESTROY. I'm all for draggin and railing my shit but some people take it to the extreme. But I guess there living the l!festyl3

Okay here's my 2 cents! I guess the argument could really go both ways! I have friends that have bought already built trucks, and some that buy a old junker and build the shit out of it! When I bought my 83 I planned on building it quickly "LOL" and driving it.... well over two years later and its finally getting some body work done, body dropped and dropping a beefy v8 in it... And also got me a toyota for the 5 lug conversion! My point is the easier road may sometimes be buying a already built ride, but for some of us, we would rather rip the skins from our knuckles, bleed on our frames, change our minds 1000 times, change our completion date a million times, only to start all over again, just for the simple satisfaction of saying without doubt that the said ride is 100% our own! I know peeps on both sides and with out a doubt they are all minitruckers to the soul! There are a$$holes on both sides who think their $hit don't stink but just hold up a finger to them and hold up a cold beer to the real "truckers" who keep our scene alive and prospering..........whether it's built or bought! Personally it ain't mine until I go through at least a 1000 sawzall blades! lmao! "AIN'T no ride like a low ride!!!!!!

well heres my 2 cents, im a minitrucker, i thank a minitrucker is someone that only thanks in "custom" form, be it really lowered or lifted, my thing is if you are going to buy it or build it you better do what it was made to do if it lays out and you got room for it to move layed out...drag that bitch, if its lifted that thing better see some mud and lots of it,
i dont thank a minitrucker can be only one type but can be of mini types..lol ,built or bought if the the owner is a true minitrucker you will know...as a minitrucker can fell anothere minitrucker for miles ( its kinda like the force in star wars, you know when theres a nothere one around you)
i know some of us cant get the truck we want, so we get what we can, i to bought my truck, but i have built all the trucks that came befor these one, but like said im "makeing it mine" by changing things on it.
sorry for the dushbag getting under your skin but dont let it get you down man

Wow, built vs bought...
Wow....
Who cares. thats my thought. so you're so cocky about being the cat's ass and building your own truck. is it necessarily a bad thing for someone without the tools and knowledge and time (previously mentioned) to pay someone else to build their car/truck/bike/boat? hell no its a smart thing. did you build your own house or did you buy it already built? can you really call it your house? did you make the shirt on your back or weave the cotton your farting thru? are they really your clothes then? come on this is the 2nd stupidest argument, right behind the MINITRUCKIN LYFESTYL. stupid to me.. but to each their own.
another thing to think about... while your on your high n mighty soapbox, what happens when you get done with your truck, ready for a new project? whose going to buy your truck? are you going to junk it and waste all your time and money? i'd much rather sell it to one of those posers that 'bought not built' so i can get a good jump on my next project.
but then again back to my first statement... who cares?

hmmm. Sorry to say boys I am starting to lean towards what is being said above. Now keep in mind I have built every custom ride I have ever owned but I am getting to the point where I could really see the advantage to farming a few things out. Well put speedster.

speed got it exactly right
i have grown up a little bit i=since 1986
i consider myself a "saver"
not a builder
i enjoy finding old minis and bringing them back
my 84..not built by me but brought back
wet yet not built by me but bringing her back
and the first and ultimate
psycho magnet...my nissan 720 i didnt build her
i saved her almost15 years ago (i think)
sold it years later im getting her back and gonna do it again
never saved the same truck twice
so built not bought may work for the classic hot rod guy who can afford that type of thing
doesn't fly in the mini world
in 86 we couldnt afford rods so we
went with minis...........................................
