Ahhhh MazdaBScene...
Just thinking about the late nights browsing through this site, the pms, emails, phone calls, and helpful messages that I have given and received over the years brings a big shit eating grin to my face. MBS meant a lot to me over the years and I always found it to be a place that could encourage me to lace up my boots to get work done, and equally a place to relax and browse through after a hard days work. I have made some amazing life-long friends through MBS, and had some of the craziest experiences.
I'm glad to see the website still going strong after being one of the first members on the site, and a moderator for a short period. I have noticed that there are a LOT more members, and the site has gotten a facelift.
I do owe somewhat of an apology to those who I have not remained in contact with. My life took an interesting turn a few years ago, which resulted in me going back to school, and resulted in me stepping away from the Mini Truckin' Lifestyle. I know I know... a lot of you are able to manage both, and some of you (mostly younger) feel that there is no excuse to ever walk away completely, but it was necessary for me to do so. I sold all of my trucks, stopped attending shows, and slowly drifted away from mbs.com. And although, I do look forward to one day being back and fully involved, I have to stay focused on my goals. I am sorry to those who have emailed me and I have not replied (32 new messages). I do miss the mindless banter, random pic threads, and fantastic memories at shows. More than anything, I miss the helpful information that I was able to gain through this website, and conversely share with others the knowledge that I had attained. I do encourage those of you who are younger, or less experienced to share your knowledge or experiences with others, but always be humble and receptive to criticism and advice.
Mini Truckin' and the lifestyle associated with it completely transformed during my tenure. It started out as a culture of people who were fresh, skilled, a little naive, but overall gracious and friendly to others. It quickly turned into a pissing contest among clubs, and auditions for the "Here's your sign award" whenever cameras faced in their direction. I have seen people do the dumbest shit when they think they have a chance to impress 20 other people or a video camera with Domination sticker on the side of it. I genuinely hope the culture and community associated with Mini Truckin and broken free of this, and the members of these organizations have worked out the problems from within, yet maintain the closeness, friendships, and ability to still raise a little hell and have fun.
To catch anyone still reading (or anyone who cares really) up to speed, I am graduating with my bachelors in May. I have a 3.95 GPA, and will be going to Law School in August. I'm still waiting to hear back from a few schools before I make my final decision as to exactly where JUST yet. I do have full intentions of returning to Mini Truckin' after law school, but on a slighter scale. For over 6 years I did nothing but work on my Mazdas, surfed forums, and attended shows. Oh yeah... and that thing called work in between. At the last show I attended I realized that there were 3 predominant stereotypes that mini truckers are associated with. 1. Someone who has a ridiculous talent, skill, or education who is able to be successful and still be involved. 2. Someone who was young, broke, and spending what little money they did have on their mini. Some of these people would buy the shittiest trucks, bag them, rattle can them, and call it ready for a drag contest. Most of these were dangerous as hell, but always made it to a long distance show... which left everyone wondering if it was truly driven on the interstate. OR 3. Those who were broke as hell, older, had kids, a dead end job, and their only escape was working on a 15 year old truck because they couldn't afford anything nicer. I realized at that time that I did not have a skill, or an education, and although I was broke driving a rattle canned mini, I was destined for a trailer park if something didn't change... and quickly (not dissing trailers, I just don't want to live in one). After years of my own advice of telling the younger people I met to get an education before life made it more difficult to do so, I've taken my own advice and I'm glad I did.
So, I hope everyone on the site is doing well. I hope to stop back by here more often to read some of the ridiculous shit you all post. But believe me when I say, I'm not gone for good. I will be back. I just needed to step away to get my life back in order.
Take care everyone, and be safe.
yes im one of the younger ones on here, and thank that some (minitrucker) out there are giveing us a bad name, i thank that there is something to learn from the older ones in the game, like yourself,iv never understood the drinking and assholeness of some of the show go'ers out there. but i would have to say im classed under your class 3. ...lol ........hope to hear from you more often
