I didn't think this belonged in off topic because a welder is a necessity for most serious modifications.
What kind of welder are you guys using? post pictures! Discuss welders as well!

I just have a little Hobart 125 with gas i picked up locally. It's been great for body work but i don't think i will be able to use it to weld my 4 link tabs etc. You guys ever weld 1/4" suspension components with a 125 successfully? My welder has worked properly for the past year i have owned it besides having to get the gas valve relay on the board replaced.

I've got the lincoln 100 amp and it welds thick metal just fine, but I use hobart ".035 flux wire in it for any thing heavier than 1/8" I've welded 1/2" D-ring tabs onto a couple of off road bumpers with it and they hold up to that abuse. as long as it's a good brand and you have a decent knowledge of welding you can pull it off with out issue

if you look closely you can see the heat lines in the metal so mine burns into 1/4" just fine, plus if you play with wire speed and slow down you can burn in more. Grab some spar 1/4" and get a idea about what you want your welder dialed into to penetrate

Its good to know i wont have to upgrade my welder for 1/4" because my garage only has normal house hold plugs. I will have to practice up before welding my tabs. You suggest .035 for anything heavier than 1/8 for what reasons?

I plan on wiring the house I'm building next year for 225 so i can run more powerful welders
as well as a plasma cutter in the future.

I just use the hobart .035 for heavier metal cause it seems to burn in better, but use .035 lincoln wire for thin work cause it seams to blow less holes

lincoln powermig 255c. i run .035 wire, but i'd like to run .030 thin wire welds better to thin sheetmetal. you have to get the thick wire that much hotter just to melt the wire, so you run the chance of melting the sheetmetal b4 the fill rod. .023 or .025 works bitchin with a 110V welder on sheet metal.

I run an older miller 175 220v mig and a miller 250dx tig. But if your going to use that 110 hobart for your suspension I would use some .030 wire so it wont take so much juice just to melt the wire. I use .030 with my 175 on my builds and products.
