Cold no starts....

I have been using my truck as a daily for a while and its been fine. For whatever reason now when it is getting really cold out, some mornings and what not my truck will not start. The starter spins and makes like a 'wissing' electric motor type noise but does not engage. (Motor never turns over) Most mornings I let it sit for a few minutes and it will just work. Yesterday I spent a good half hour trying to get it running before coming home. It seems like the starter solenoid or something isn't engaging. The starter is brand new on my truck. Any input would be great..

How old is your battery? It might be the battery. Cold weather is bad some older batteries.

I don't even know what to do this intermittent problem has now seemingly become permanent over the last day. I read that if a starter won't crank the motor then its like the ring gear inside that is like stripped. This is a brand new starter and I'm broke and can't afford to replace another brand new part. I think I am getting very close to being done now......... sadly. Really need to solve this problem..

Shop I bought it at, as well as my first alternator that blew up, burnt down since. I don't really have any options my parents are gonna make me get something else now I think... Had the truck for 4 years and put everything I have ever had into it but its not willing to give back at all...

I put a factory ford alarm system on my truck; does anyone think that the alarm may be stopping it from starting for some reason? I just thought it would kill the power to the starter* completely... I might take it out right now just so i know its not part of it.
