I keep looking in the mags and on the net and see pics of peoples sheet metal mods looking all shiny from grinding. How are they getting it like this? When I sheet metaled my bed i was grinding my ass off and couldn't get the coating off to save my life. What am I doing wrong or is there a secret or is that just how it is, gotta grind and grind with like 40 grit or something? Someone told me once that you have to use baking soda or some shit like that to get the coating off. Someone help me out I feel like a retard! haha

are you using a grinding wheel or flap disc? i would recommend using a 40 or 60 grit flap disc

spend the extra money and get cold rolled sheet instead of hot rolled and it doesnt have the mill scale on it way nicer to work on you can hit it with a DA and paint it not spend hours cleaning off the mill scale first, I tried taking the cheap way out and relized I had more time and matrials into grinding the scale off then what it would cost to get the better metal.
