Tinting windows?

My son wants to tint the windows in his mazda, but I will be the first to admit that my attempts at tinting have been epic failures. Has anyone tried those precut window tinting kits? Or does he need to just fork out the dough and pay to have it done.

tinting mazda windows are actually pretty easy ,but the pain is the sliding rear window if he has one, best thing to do ,is if he isnt experienced at all and has some time ,,you dont have to ,but can take the windows out fo the door ,to make things easier ,make sure you clean very very good, lay on outside of window ,make it wet and squeegy it till it contours the window ,"still leaving the film on it ,this is so that after light and heat is on it ,it will stretch a lil and mold to the angles you want ,after a little time ,1 hour or so ,spray in side of window ,peel the film an apply working from inside out ,dont make it super super wet or ever lil creese will keep lifteing keep outter part wet and keep sqeegying ,and voila'shoul dbe perfect ,its always good to leave it heat up on outside ,it really helps on and window ,ive learned the hard way ,but after years of it ,you learn the nac,and when done trace about 3/8th off the edge so it dont lift the tint, once you put the window up ,leave them up for like a day or so ,so it doesnt peel tint "and last a lil trick ,dont use a blade to seperate the film from tint, use a piece of tape ,and try from touching adhesive part the oils keep tint from stickin ,hope thi shelped

Maybe I'll give it another shot. But what you describe is basically how I did it, minus the laying on the outside for a while. So you say don't bother with the precut kits?

no ,because ive seen friends use them and never once worked out ,tint shrinks a lil so ,and also depending how you sqeegy it,can change its demensions ,but laying it on outside of window is the key to get it molded to shape ,take in account of how it will be on inside of window ok

I got to thinking I got some windows out of my 88 from back in the day, I'll swing by the parts store and pick up some tint and we'll try and do those then just swap the windows.

Any recommendations on brand of tint?

cool ,if you have spare windows that is by far the easiest way to do it ,just be careful when installing them you dont scratch the window in the process ,only downside to that husker ,let me kno who wit works out for you then

thats how i tinted the windows in my mazda... pulled them out of the truck to do it... only one i didnt pull out was my solid back window... i really want to some day when i retint the whole truck darker. was a lot easier to to tint the windows not in the truck...

The ones I tried to do before I pulled out. We'll see I'm older and wiser now.
