How far have you driven your truck? Stock engine set up or what? Stock trans/gears?
I've driven mine at max about 130 miles into the mountains. I may be going to Atlanta later this year, and I just don't like the idea of driving the truck that far, (about 4-5 hour drive). My truck when it comes off the highway, the lifters tick pretty badly, and I'm afraid that's meaning it's hurt lol.
So when it comes to long trips, I feel more comfy in a car, but why? It's like I feel I need me a car so I can go more places without taking the wife's car.

That's about the same trip I'll be running. Just outside Charlotte to Atlanta in Nov.

i have been doing a bunch of small to decent length road trips since i got my truck... there was regular trips of 50 km. for a couple days a week for a good month, then a few trips to get rims and other goodies and stuff, more like 350 km, and just did a trip to ottawa last month... that was just under 1000 km spread over 2 days. usually i hover 130-140 km/hr on the hwy too... so high rpms. i just keep an eye on the temp all the time, and check oil level regularly with stops.
obviously not as comfortable a ride as most cars for a good hwy trip, but i didnt mind at all... but im not a fancy guy... lol my ride is noisy too... a lil loud performance exhaust, coupled with the fact the truck is old and not well insulated from road noise...

i did a 120+ mile roadie one nite... course i maxed 25 mph on the backroads. only probly i had was i got high centered in a mud puddle . but as bad as my motor was when i got the truck and as bad as its gittin now i'm not gonna be drivin it much till i git the new head on her. thats why i put my caprice back together and got me a 4wd mazda too.
like tony sed, just take things that you might need, oil, water, pantyhose for the Vbelt or an extra belt and a few tools. murphy's law; if you take them, you wont need 'em. its when ur ridin empty that you break.
