ok so my question to the scene is this, do minitrucks that lay out need an e-brake? im doing some firewall work and the e-brake cable is in my way. i dont want to go through the trouble to remove it then have to re-install it and adjust it. im thinking bout removing it completely from the truck. whenever i park my truck its always layed out(im an attention whore) and its always in gear. what should i do?

if ur doing interior work, since the e-brake is cable operated, get a handle that is floor mounted between the seats, shorten the cable, and voila,no firewall issues.bj

My old porche had it next to the rocker on the driver's side. I lay my trucks out too when parked. The only benefit is for total hydrolic brake failure, or when warming the engine on a slanted driveway. Also check your local laws, some states require them and a prick cop (there's not too many of them around ) may cite you for it.

personally i would keep it, you never know when you might need it, and like rick said about the cop thing,
ive had a cop stop me and wanted to see if mine worked, and it did
i also lay my truck out when i park, and i also pul the e-brake too, lol force of habbit

Keep it. Is it really worth (in a rare instance) your life or the life of someone else. Plus for safety, resale, inspections and fines, keep it.
I think that there should be certain requirements on bagged vehicles besides the regular standard safety equipment. It kills me to see vehicles without check valves. They are so cheap and if you do blow a bag/line/etc. they can save you and your ride big time. Don't get me wrong, some things like here in Ontario if the Ministry stops you and you have rub marks in your wheel wells, they pull your plates. To me that's excessive, but standard safety is a must.

There is also a kit you can buy, probably from a speed shop(we install one on a friend's duece coupe several years ago)it works something like a line -lock,you tap into your rear hydraulic brake line. You press your brake pedal, engage it & it holds the hydraulic pressure until you release it( think of an air brake engagement button, same principle) this gives you more flexibility as to mounting location(we mounted th duece's under the driver's seat out of view).
