That is one thing that really pisses me off about the shows. People just throwing their trash on the ground! Ever since I was a kid my dad had me picking up any trash in our yard if we ever saw any. These days it is like no one gives a damn. In the Marine Corps the train you to pick up not only after yourself but after everyone else. Hell, even if you aren't the one that threw the shit on the ground, pick it up. It sucks I know, but so does a bad reputation! It seems like todays scene is all about drinking and driving, acting stupid and just throwing their shit everywhere with no respect for others! It is one thing if you throw your trash in the trash can and the wind blows it out, that is understandable but you can walk around shows and just watch people just throw their shit on the ground with no respect for anyone else. I will tell you this, the Texas Chapter of SUNSET is planning on throwing a show in the future, and if I ever see anyone just throw shit on the ground, they're out. I don't give a shit! I will personally refund their money for the entry fee and kick their ass out of the show! With all the trash cans that I have seen at every show I have been to there is no reason for it.
And know this, it isn't just "Mini Truckers" throwing the trash on the ground, I am working on an army base and these guys have no respect for anyone either, as sad as it is to say. So remember it isn't just the truckin scene.

I'll tell u all a thing or two. I'm from Wa. state, I grew up in Tri cities We all used to cruise Court St. wenatchee at apple blossem, and clear water. It was not the trash that was the problem but trafic problems that were caused. but that was in 1992 the hispanic population has increaced so much, i was there last year out side of burbank at ice harbor. just to thow my line in the water for fishing. i had to clean up the trash. it was sickning to see the way a family of 30 mexicans will treat nature. my parents live there and i picked up their trash every day for 5 weeks. and not thirty yards from was a trash can.
Not all of the hispanics are like this dont get me wrong! differnt generations differnt values

^^ filthy people
its really not that hard to pack your trash with you. that's a big thing in the 4x4 world, pack it in-pack it out. they have to fight against the tree huggers saying they're destroying nature, and many guys agree to keep it clean. no good comes from leaving your shit laying everywhere.
P.S.
to me it seemed the article was pointing the trashy finger at the spectators from the home county where the show was held.

I agree with you Geoff. After reading the link, I scrolled down to the local people's comments and the neighbor's were stating that the trash was worse after the show left...meaning that the show's trash collection team was actually cleaning the communities trash and not residue from the show. It just goes to show you how one reporter's point of view can skew the general public's opinion.
I don't understand the mentality of people who think that others should pick up after them.

A lot of shows have this problem. I've brought my civic to several hot import nights shows in Pleasanton, San Francisco, Las Vegas and Los Angeles. After the show when I'm rolling out there is always trash on the ground. Mostly at these shows its the flyers and postcard type ads that get past out during the show. Some people keep them others drop them on the ground. I take them when they are handed out, if I don't want to keep it I throw it in the trash can. There always is a trash can nearby, people are just LAZY! The worst one was at LA convention center. They turned on the house lights in the building, and there was flyers all over the floor. My car looked like a flyer sweeper. I have a picture of it somewhere. But it seems to be the people that attend the show and not the participants.
Hopefully peoples attitude will get better and car shows will continue.

on a side note... i was just in Vegas the weekend of the 4th,(i usually go once to twice per year) and that place always looks like a dump - all those stripper cards and drink coupons and crap all over the streets. must have been a nice change to see car flyers lol
