My son's truck is a 92 b2600i and the air will blow cold for a few minutes than just so so for a few, then cold, then so so, then cold, then so so, then cold, then so so, then cold, then so so, then cold, then so so, then cold, then so so, then cold, then so so, then cold, then so so, then cold, then so so, then cold, then so so, then cold, then so so, then cold, then so so. Well you get the picture. Any how from my vast experience with hvac I would say it's low on freon. I've been so busy lately haven't had much time to look at it. I assume it is still r12, I've switched a few vehicles over to 134 with those kits from like the parts store, has anyone done this on their b, and where the result very good? I remember my 88 blew ice cold and would like the same from his.

okay sounds like you have one of two things happening. either there is air in the system, or moisture.

to remedy this you need a vacuum pump and suck the system down to 29 inches of vacuum and have it hold for at least a half hour. Not many people are going to have this pump unless they did a/c's once upon a time or still do.

but if it's cooling somewhat that is a good sign that the system is still leak free, air will not enter a pressurized system from a leak. What happens is people using the diy kits and not sucking down the system causes the air/moisture build up.

now there are still more possibilities

the a/c control switch may be bad and causing sparatic behavior

the low pressure cut-out switch may not be working, is the compressor functioning?

anyway there are some things to look at

Hows the belt on the compressor? Make sure it's not slipping.
