I was wondering why customs won't let bring in the whole truck. I know that people can import cars and trucks straight from Japan, or is it a Australia thing. anyways, looks killer, I bet your anxious to start working on it.

Whole cars and trucks can be imported. I have been doing research and it is possible. Apparently if the vehicle has a US counterpart then you can do it. I am not sure how that would work for a 4 door Mazda cab as we do not have the 4 doors here, not sure if that matters. I do know that it is cheaper and easier if the vehicle is in pieces then if it is together.

It is pretty expensive to import a car. Years back someone was talking online about importing a Nissan Skyline from Japan and it was pretty expensive plus they had to convert some engine stuff to US specs to get a U.S. Vin number so they can register it.

With a Skyline they dont have a US counterpart so its tough. Alot of people bring them into Canada then across the border and use the Vins off a Nissan Altima or someother Nissan or you can make a R33 Skyline US legal but you do have to modify it to be legal. The R33 is able to be registered here because a company spent tons of time and money crash testing them and figuring out how to make them legit.

At first I was told the 20th and then the shipping guy said don't release it cause he still owes money. Well that got cleared up(he missed placed his papers) and then the date was the 22nd and that got bumped to the 29th. Got a email yesterday there was a miscommunication between the shipping company's. So now I am told that pickup is on the 3rd. I'm just waiting for another email to saying the date has changed again.
Now to answer the questions about the whole car coming over. You are correct about if they made the same car here then you could bring one over. But you still have to have it meet the DOT and EPA standard. So alot of older cars just wont make it. Now mine is a 4 door and they did not offer that here. So it has to come over as parts. I have put 4-5 years of research into what I need to do to get this over here.
