Agreed completely as stated above:

"Your weld is only as strong as the material you are welding"

That is the case, but like explained above, by spreading the load over a greater area you can make sheetmetal stronger. By no means is that setup hack, its very cleanly done and we gotta remember it is SHOWTRUCK. I would be more worried about the door side tweaking back and fourth.

No offense dev but just because it was published in minitruckin doesn't mean it's gold. I've seen a few hack jobs in there. I've also seen the stories on what doesn't get shot because of a certain thing or to.

Edit: also me personally I would never run a single hinge considering the physics. First thing that comes to my head is how the door could move up and down more freely other than the traditional 2 hinge setup that has more equal proportion. Again I'm no pro fabricator or trying to stir shit.

There not fighting. There just weighing the pros and cons of the kit.

i agree with justin. it isn't a fight. if someone came on here that wanted suicide doors but knows nothing about them and saw this, they'd be able to make a better choice as to if this is the application they want/need. publicly weighing out both sides helps others learn.

see... someone else says almost exactly what i said and its agreed to.

No less, to me... that looks like a botched and pieced together install. Looks to me like they found some scrap metal and decided to use it as "hinge bracing". with it being a single hing, the stress is going to be on all 4 sides of that tubing. when its more in a closed position, it will be twisting front/back of the truck, when its open 90* its twisting side/side to the truck. that hinge would have to be plated and braced all over the place for it to last any length of time.

edit: and to support the 2 hinge idea... both open or closed, its more of a push/pull on the hinge then a twisting. alot easier to predict and prevent
