my temp switch is new as of last week. my heater does not work. i'll check the timing and radiator. but the engine head was just rebuilt so the head gasket is new. unless the block is craxked, it would have to be the core. radiator (thermostat is also new) or heater core...
^^^werd. I had a overheating issue when m,y rad blew and I was forced to drive 2 miles, I had a MASSIVE MASSIVE air bubble that made me think that maybe my WP had gone...I took off my heater core hoses and bypassed it (its crapped out anyways) and I let it run and saw plenty of fluid flow....finished bypass, took the cap off and let it burp out the air by several small lil drives...it finally burped it all out and I have not had any problems since. I am running dual electric fans on a manual switch but I rarely have to turn them on and we are in the 90s here
wow, that for an air bubble? yeah i'll admit i was thinking no way but so how do i ensure the air bubbles are all out? thanks
pull the driverside heater hose off at the cowl just to make sure its blead out...also..we've run into the the problem with brand new thermostats being bad and also if it's running lean it will get hot and also check your fan clutch if it spins freely when the truck is cold or wiggles at all it need to be replaced..that will also cause it to get hot
you can do either as I did which was allow it to burp thru the overflow and the rad or as Samson said thru the heater core....I went with the rad so I could watch my water flow to insure my pump was still good. Either way works.
ok i'll check the radiator and then try pilling the cap. im so mad b/c the truck runs great and i didnt see any cracks anywhere...
radiator flows great, no oil in the water but i pulled the thermostat and it is 195 degrees! i'm guessing that is too much. i pulled it and am going to see if it's ok now...
