So.... my heater blower wont work. I checked the fuse and it is fine. Dash lights dont work either (have to check that fuse too) but anyone have any ideas where I should start to diagnose the problem? When I turn the heater on, the blower doesn't even turn on but i notice if I put it to the highest setting, something happens. Don't know how to describe what exactly; like dimming of headlights or idle change ever so slightly (could be all in my head). Where do I start checking for power to what? Any help is appreciated, thanks!
mine acts up alot. the factory connection on the blower motor somehow became loose. easy to get to it and fix. two nuts hold the cover on. its under the dash on the passenger side. toward the right, near the kick panel. or it could be a bad blower motor. also sometimes the switch on the dash will go bad. use a volt meter and test the voltage at the blower motor through all the switch settings
Ok i'll start there... Thanks
check you blower motor resistor. you have to access it thru your glove box it takes a little time but i bet that the prob you can get a new one at autozone or oreilly's for about 20 bucks. the same thing happened to my old ladies truck it took me like a month tho figure it out.
it IS your resitor
pull the glove box out and find the wires going to the plug on blower remove the 2 screws and pul it out
is there any way to see if this thing is working or not before I buy one? They're $40 at napa and autozone which isnt too bad i guess, but i cant return it if it's not the problem...
try a continuity test on the old one, have you pulled it out yet?
take your old one out and see if any of the springs are broken
