choke on weber?

Ignition on, has no relation to the motor running

It should be hooked to an ign on source so that it will work while the truck is running, if I'm not mistaken, the wire off the back of the alty only supplies the voltage for the choke and or ptc heater (@ 6v if I remember correctly), it/they are acutally controlled by an engine coolant sensor, ie, this is what drops the choke/ptc heater out of operation once the engine has reached normal operating temps....if it was only hooked to an ign on, the choke would stay engaged all the time causing the truck to run poorly after the initial warmup period....You can double check the wiring schematics in a chiltons or haynes book, but I'm pretty sure that is the case.

we have some of the best mazda motor guys on here and all of us that dont understand that motor lingo don't get it.it would be best to just say ,how you hook it up properly ,no analogies ,or advanced mechanic lingo,because ,i still dont understand ,we are talking about a weber 34/34 ,and the only electrical wire that needs hooked up directly to carb is choke ,no idle sensor or anything else ,just choke ,and the wire that originally went to factory carb for choke was yellow and came from back of aternator and that wire now goes to choke on my weber is that right or not ?runs perfect ,but some of this thread throws me off path ,nobody i asking for aftermarket alt wiring just what wire ?thanks not trying to be rude

yeah sosa said it the best. im still lost of what wire i need to make sure is hooked up to my choke. lol

look on the back of ur alt. theres a lil wire comin off it that goes up under the intake mani. it used to go to the factory carb but wont reach to the new carbs choke. you probly cut it when you took ur old carb off. you should be able to just pull it out from under ur manifold and put a female plug on and onto ur choke. its just a lil bigger than a speark + clip. mine didn't come with one so i had to run to parts store to git one.

you can see it in this picture. just a lil yella wire.
