so i called a local store to get a new fuel tank for my 89 cab plus
they say there's a different between MT and AT tanks, and they can only get the MT tanks
well my truck is AT
is there really a difference?
they get the tanks from spectra premium, and say they can't get the automatic, can't even order it in....
what gives?

EDIT:
it looks like the vents on the top are slightly different.... arg!
will this make a huge difference?
also reference from spectra: AT (part # MZ7B)

Hmmm... that funny mine has three vents on top but it has always been a MT. It's all going to the charcoal can and rest off the evap system. I'm sure you could make do with what's available.

well the AT has more pipes, i wouldn't want to be missing anything being hooked up though...
i can get the MT at a dealer price ofr $146cdn+tax
the AT is apparently discontinued by this same company, so i'd have to get retail from another shop.. cheapest i've found so far is $241cdn+tax at APC auto parts centre and NAPA wants $317cdn+tax
arg!

It's always in the last place you look. lol
Cost me like $289 or something to get my tank replaced in Kermit. Stupid Hamilton roads.

Are they really 17 gal ???? i have a b2600I cab plus and i dont think it holds 17 gals....
my gauge doesnt work to good but everytime i fill up, it takes about 11 gals, at about 240 miles to a ful tank.

another question now.....
does anyone have a good explanation as to why the fuel pump would pump out the side to a rubber hose back into the tank, through a line on the inside of the tank, back out the back to a rubber hose to the fuel filter?
why wouldn't the pump just pump directly out to the fuel filter and be done with it?
as per:
the hose bottom right goes back into the tank, then inside the tank a line runs to the hose on the top left
why?!?!?

oem tank from my '89.
got replaced yesterday.
i still am not getting fuel delivery with the new tank... but it's super cold right now so this week i'm going to check if fuel pump is delivering, may be the dirty electrical connector....
should be fun :/

Is your truck carbed or FI? If it's carbed the electrical connector on the tank is just for the sending unit for the gauge.A new fuel pump would probably be a good investment. They are less than $30 for a mechanical fuel pump.
